Simplon set up in Youssoufia, Morocco, in October 2018 with its first “YouCode” training centre, comprising 110 trainees in Web & Mobile Development. The first cohort was launched in partnership with the OCP (Office Chérifien de Phosphates). As a result of this success, two new cohorts of 110 trainees began their training programmes in October 2019, in Youssoufia and Safi. Simplon has further expanded its network of digital training centres with 60 new trainees in Web & Mobile Development scheduled to begin shortly. SoliCode was created in partnership with the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
The challenge for Morocco in the ICT sector for the coming years is to enable the country’s integration into the global knowledge economy, through a broadened and widely disseminated integration of IT within all levels and actors of society: state, administrations, companies, and citizens.
A new vision for technological advancement, “Digital Morocco 2020”, has been developed in a participatory approach aimed at reducing the digital divide by 50%, “digitizing” 50% of administrative procedures, equipping and connecting 20% of SMEs, and training 30,000 IT professionals.
